The
Trixie Flea and Dust Comb
is a pet grooming tool with fine, stainless steel teeth designed to help detect and physically remove fleas, lice, eggs, and dirt from a pet’s coat. It is suitable for both dogs and cats of all fur types and can also aid in de-shedding and stimulating skin health.
Usage Guide
To use the
Trixie Flea and Dust Comb
effectively and safely, follow these steps:
- Preparation: Brush your pet first with a standard brush to remove large tangles, allowing the flea comb to pass smoothly through the coat. Settle your pet on a light-colored surface (like an empty tub or a towel) so that any falling fleas or eggs are easily visible.
- Technique: Gently run the comb through the pet’s fur, starting from the head and moving systematically towards the tail, following the direction of hair growth. Ensure the comb tines get close to the skin to catch parasites effectively.
- Target Areas: Pay special attention to “hot spots” where fleas love to hide, such as behind the ears, around the neck, in the armpits/groin area, and at the base of the tail.
- Cleaning the Comb: Keep a bowl of soapy water nearby. After each few strokes, dip the comb into the soapy water to drown any captured fleas and wash away eggs or dirt. Flea dirt will turn a reddish-brown color when wet due to digested blood.
- Frequency: Use the comb daily during an active flea infestation. For prevention or regular maintenance, using it once a week is recommended.
